    Re: Making flowers with paint?
The UK version (from 1976) was made by Denys Fisher

    Flower Drops
The flower drops game I always wanted - you made flowers out of wire and dipped them in paint - sounds like a really thrilling game - no wonder my Mum didn't buy it for me

Always wanted the game Operation - bought it once but it was faulty and it had to go back and they didn't have another.
Also wanted a doll called Tippy Tumbles - was jealous of my friend who had one.
Seem to recall somethign called Flower Drops as well - will have a look online now and see what it was exactly as am not even sure.

I had a Mr Frosty and like most comments on here it was absolutley rubbish.
I always wanted an AT-AT from star wars, Big Trax, and a Hi Fi that was a giant can of coke.

I remember wanting a vaccuum cleaner once - you know how they always had toy versions of the real thing in the catalogues. I mean why would a kid ever want one of those? Why did I???? I'm glad I never got one.

Although growing up in the 80s my parents where great, & always got me most things X mas time, the toys I always wanted but NEVER had due to costing too much for my working class folks where: Mr. Frosty (though that was cheap), Simon Says, Dino Riders, Centurions, big trax - & although I had tons of Star wars stuff, I NEVER had the giant, mighty AT-AT (for obvious reasons, as it was the most expensive star wars toy ever), OR the A Team van (Though I had all the figures)...

I used to want an Incredible Hulk Rage Cage by Break, but instead I got Incredible Raging Hulk. Slight difference, but I was only 5 so my parents probably couldn't understand what I meant when I saw the advert on TV

I also used to want an Action Man Professor Gangrene, Beast Wars Optimus Primal, and a Street Sharks Slobster Puppet. But I didn't get those either.

Wow! That IS the set I had (with the black track), but the cover art looked more modern, with a colour picture of a motorway if I recall. That brings back some memories! Those controllers that you could lock at half or maximum speed overheated after about 15 mins use. I still remember the smell of smouldering plastic! I thought then and still think now that Scalextric was far sexier though.

Thats what you must have had Cartimand....must say, compared to Scalextric this stuffs much more cooler looking. As a kid I always wanted normal vehicles whizzing on tracks like this...but I didn't have a brother to play with and these were no longer being made by that time....

Re: Best toy you NEVER had

A lot of Major Matt Mason stuff got reused accessory wise for Mattels later BIG JIM line...especially in Europe. Mason had a stilt like space walker and that was one which was reused for Big Jimmy...lol. Then a lot of Big Jim stuff got reused in He Man, remolded, repainted or slightly resculpted but the similarities in provenance are apparent to see....if your stupidly knowledgeable about such guff like me...

Minic is far rarer than Scalextric anyday. Having seen it I wish they'd bring it back, seems really nice....Cartimand, are you saying you had Minic coach and double decker bus to race with? Interesting.

    So many, so many!
Well we were quite poor and I was jealous as hell seeing a more middle-class friend with his new Scalextric set. I dropped plenty of hints, but what did I get? The much cheaper and much less fun Minic Highway. Instead of racing cars, I had to stage my (not-so) grand prix with a coach and a double-decker! It was only some 25 years later, when I had a son of my own that I finally got a Scalextric set. Was it worth the wait? You bet!

Another disappointment was getting a bendy Captain Scarlet, instead of the Major Matt (Mason) spaceman with his amazing space station and jet pack. Have you seen the prices Major Matt Mason stuff goes for now on ebay?
