i used to spend my pocket money on a saturday morning in W H smiths on these things .they were a piece cardboard with a cartoon type drawing on it and a clear plastic sheet what that pictures on it .you then placed the sheet on the scene and rubbed with a pen so the picture stuck to the scene,cowboys and indians on a desert scene was allways a popular one.
the thing i most remember about these things is no matter how much you went over the whole of the transfer with the pen when you lifted up the sheet you would allways have a leg or arm still on the plastic and then have to try and match up the missing limb with the rest of the body that had allready been transfered

We quite often had letraset transfers as stocking fillers for Christmas, also remember getting them free in cereal and the box would have a scene printed on the back

I had the 3 Letraset Star wars scenes that came out. Shreddies did some SW ones too.

I remember having a small pack of those transfers.I use to apply them to stupid things that would get thrown away,like magazines,newspapers and cereal boxes.I wish i had used them on something else now,as i would have still retained them,and would be able to post piccies of them.

I used to like these transfers as well. Usually they were based on an action film or TV programme of the time, such as 'The Fall Guy' or 'Magnum P.I.', and the empty street scene would soon be overfilled by people and vehicles vying for space. I usually 'transferred' them by scribbling over each one with a pencil.

It lead my young mind to some excitement, when watching a 'Holiday' programme in the early '80s, to hear that many of the holiday prices included flights and transfers. :-) I used to hope they also provided the card base scene to rub them onto.

When I was young I used to be confused by football transfers.

Stick-on tattoos are sometimes called transfers as well.

I had the first Doctor Who Weekly with the little sheet of rub-on transfers, but I never rubbed them. I wish now I'd kept that (and #2-4 with it)...
