Re: Worst TV sit Com ever.....

Quite a few Sitcoms seem to start well (maybe after a shaky start) but struggle if they run too long.

2.4 Children & The Brittas Empire certainly did this.

I liked Last Of The Summer Wine until Bill Owen died, after that it never seemed the same again.

Re: Worst TV sit Com ever.....

Game On was utterly terrible. On the scale of being funny it ranks up there with being stuck in traffic.

Home to Roost was about as fun as having a really bad headache.

I know someone will go against me for this, as they use it as a username, but On the Buses is a crime against man. Seriously the worst thing ever. Ever. Ever ever? EVER! I find it sort of embarrassing for all the people involved. It's truly painful to watch, I'd rather tolerate 30 minutes of static than 'enjoy' an episode of On the Buses.

hate last of the summer wine, i still wake up in a cold sweat thinking of those sundays as a kid when my dad had the BBC 2 sunday league cricket on all afternoon followed by antiques road show and then LOTSW (its left me mentally scard)

other sit coms i have detested (hate them so much i cant even think of their titles) that one with paul nicholas in it where he jilted some girl at the alter (or something or the other) and then meets her again years after and then spends the next million episodes pining after her like a dog wanting a bone
there was another one about next door neighbours seem to recall as the titles came up it had like an embroidered house graphic there was a bloke in it who allways seemed to be in the garden shed it was one of those typical BBC family comedies that are dire and is as funny as IBS (and gets an airing as afternoon tv years later)

and of course the latest detest-a-fon is my family how does that get renewed constantly what a steaming pile of @*@@*+*****

The last 10/11 years it was given a tortured death I think Darren. After Bill Owen passed away it shoul of ended ... that's not to say Bill was the star of the show, far from it but he really helped make it what it was. I liked Symour in too, when - was it Foggy he replaced for a time?

LOTW really jumped the shark when Frank Thornton potrayed Truly as too Clegg like instead of doing a pompous act.

Bringing in Russ Abbott (who in my opinion was a established cretiable 80s comedian) and him turning to to acting was just as bad too!

in all fairness i never watched much of the last decade of it.
although from what i remember kathy staff stayed in it till it finished or until she died whichever came first.

but its true sometimes a show goes on to long.
and i was very shocked who far down the viewing figures went in the 5 to ten yrs.

I still think it was good though Darren, but patchy would be a fairer description I feel. I never took to Truly, though he was tolerable but Russ Abbott for me totaly made me think of him differently when he joined LOTSW. He was great at comedy but not terrible at acting, similar for me to the 2 Ronnie's but opposite - I never liked them in any comedy really - though Open All Hours was not bad at times and it has grown on me, but give them me as The 2 Ronnie's in their own show and they are sensationaly funny 101 if not 110% of the time.

I liked the episode from about 200 I think it was where all the other men (Cleggy and ?, ? ) went to a Memorial in France from the War Compo had served in and I well recall Nora giving Compo very kind memories before they went which shows that though he was funny and an irritation - he was truly well well thought of at heart by Nora!

yes i remember that episode cheers for reminding me.
A sitcom i do not like is only fools and horses.
i know how well its thought of but when i see it on i just dont get it.

bc1 are doing it in the afternoons at the moment mate.

there has been 11 series of my family.
                            started in 2000.
                            1 hundred and 20 episodes.
1 hundred and nine of them 30 mins long.

never really found it funny either.
guess we all have different tastes.

Oh I quite liked that one. I saw a clip on YT the other day and giggled a lot.

Mind you, the reason I've not contributed on this thread before is because I don't really like judging 'worst' things
