Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy & Smiley's People still work well, especially as they were made just a few years after the novels they were based on.

The slow pacing suits them, as there is enough time to flesh the caharacters & very complicated storylines.

Definitely agree. Quality drama there. A Perfect Spy is also strong, though the book is required reading. And then of course there's Edge of Darkness. The Beeb really made some good stuff back then

I've watched a couple of episodes of Minder in the last couple of days. A real classic. Remember watching them when they were first shown.

David Bowie was in the fim spin off 'fire wak with me' apparently. I've never seen it but had to find out what part he played. Good old IMDB. Might need to give it a chance at some point.

How anyone can say old fashioned s**t like Dad's Army stands the test of time is amazing.
                      And I can't believe someone's made a film version!!

                      HAVE
Man About The House (With youngsters renting a tiny flat, coz they can't afford to buy one. Hmmm.)
George and Mildred (With seedy landlord and landlady. Hmmm.)
Dallas (Dirty scheming corporate shark JR and his dodgy dealings. Sound familiar?)
Hawaii 5 0 (Sunny locations. Fast cars. Sexy girls. You cant lose with that lot!)

                      HAVE NOT
Kojak (Still watchable, but silly as he always catches the bad guys)
Sweeney (Good for nostalgic reasons, but London is not the same as it was in the show)
                      Minder (See above)

                        Whicker's World?
                        People's Century?
                        Old episodes of Horizon?

Since buying a Chromecast recently, I've started watching Blakes 7 from the start on Youtube. Almost at the end of the first series now. Whilst the special effects were little better than Thunderbirds standard even at the time, the great characterisation, witty dialogue and interplay between the main players makes it still compelling watching today. It's also very obvious what a big influence Blakes 7 was on cult US sci-fi series Firefly.

I watched & recorded all of B7 some years ago off UK Gold & the BBC2 repeats (apart from a few I bought on home video).

Some episodes fared better than others.

I've often heard that Firefly is probably the nearest we are going to get to a remake, even if it was cancelled after 10 episodes, something Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory wasn't happy with!
