  • Shows that still haven’t been released on DVD/streaming

Thinking about the 1970s stop-motion series Larry the Lamb in Toytown, and how it’s near-impossible to find all 26 episodes online (for the record, eleven are on the Internet Archive).

Am aware of quite a few other notable series that also suffer from this situation, including The Magic Roundabout, The Adventures of Sir Prancelot, Grange Hill (though the first ten series are available), and post-series 1 Rentaghost. Any other shows that anyone wishes was available officially, and/or how are the aforementioned shows accessible otherwise?

Rights issues with the use of music often stops programmes from being released.

I've heard Ben Elton's Happy Families used a few difficult to clear tracks, like Elton John's Song For Guy.

Yes, that’s part of the reason for Rentaghost being hard to find, alongside contractual issue with the surviving cast.

Larry the Lamb and Sir Prancelot certainly didn’t use any “pop music”, so that can’t be a reason for their scarcity. At least Rentaghost episodes are available on YouTube, unlike the former two (wish the full shows were available somewhere)

As for Grange hill, I'm pretty sure the whole thing bang is on youtube, I did manage to get the complete DVD of Rentaghost... well I say the complete every episode is there but the quality is a bit iffy, recorded off of TV some of them, but the bit that peeved me off is that the final season had duplicate episodes, I did contact them but they ignored me, they then took it down but I see they have put the link back up again...

Looking at the site… interesting what they think they can get away with. Rentaghost episodes are also on YouTube (including a few rips of the 2000s CBBC repeats that included the Christmas special Rentasanta). Why is The Jetsons considered “rare television”?

The issue of “same episodes” is also present with Larry the Lamb, oddly: there were quite a few (presumably bootleg, but the quality is alright) DVD releases that used the same five episodes (perhaps because the other VHS volumes were harder to find). Would like a better way to watch all of them, but definitely not from this “distributor”!
