    XL Crisps were manufactured about 1955, by the Gaffney family. The factory was situated

    at Doncaster Rd, Conisborough, Doncaster UK.

    They sold out to ABF Foods abouy 1960 and production moved over to Lancashire.

    Forgive me if someone has already posted this.
    I remember way back in the late 50's when Smiths brought out Oxo flavoured crisps. They didn't catch on so they fizzled out.
    Packets of crisps then had a little blue bag of salt inside them which you shook onto the crisps or not depending on your taste.

    Thanks for that,I remember driving my mum mad for these because of the radio adverts for them,I can't recall if they were any good though!

    I've heard mention of Chicken in a basket crisps, but have yet to come across a packet.
