I had two family holidays in France where were drove there & back, using a ferry because the Channel Tunnel wasn't yet open.

Northern ireland to dublin to holyhead to manchester to cairnryan to belfast by ferry.

Just come back from a cruise from Southampton to the Norwegian fjords and back.
North Sea was pretty rough (the shipping forecast did say gale force 9 to very strong storm force 10, and my wife felt seasick.
If we'd been flying though, I guess turbulence might have been just as bad (but not as long lasting).

I done the Fjords too but only from Newcastle, Also done Iceland but looks similar distace

Dover to Copenhagen — by ferry. It took three days to get there. I was around 8 or 9 years old. My dad took me there to visit Legoland (Legoland Windsor was not yet a thing).

Managed to get to the Orkneys, but then again, I have never flown by plane.
