Yesterday when I visited a relative's house I found out that a member of my family also had the COVID in September, but thankfully she had made a fully recovery. She was studying in Newcastle when she got it and was 160-odd miles away from home, which takes the pressure off, but it was still a shock when I found out about it.

My relatives are clear of the virus but it's still a worry when you know someone tests positive.
News today that vaccine for older people is strong and working for the volunteers but how do we trust that information and what about the side effects

This morning's breaking news that the Pfizer vaccine has been licenced for use in the UK and could be rolled out to key workers as soon as next week is the best news I've heard since the start of this wretched year!

They are using holiday inn heathrow airport as a quarantine,no way i would want to stay there in the future.scary times ahead is it a chinese cover up

I still think of Viagra when I hear Pfizer's name.

Anyway, I would agree to have the vaccine if it was offered to me - I can vaguely remember the MMR and the tetanus and whooping cough vaccine that I had in around 1984.

I found it interesting about the fact that some people can have allergies if they had the vaccine - I bet that there will be someone who will get the virus and are allergic to the vaccine, so what happens if that is the case? Six of one and half a dozen of the other methinks.

The coronavirus actually appeared unexpectedly. If I had been told a year ago that there would be big problems in the world in 2020, I would have thought that there must be a war, or natural disasters, or a serious economic crisis. But I just couldn't think there could be an epidemic.

It seemed to me that such catastrophes remained in the past centuries. I thought that this could not happen with today's modern medicine. But no, it happened. And I'm really surprised that it’s possible. I do not know how the world will get out of this problem now, but I know for sure that the consequences will be reminiscent for a very long time.

I just really hope that these vaccines will help us and we will finally start forgetting the coronavirus as a nightmare.

It came a shock to the world and when I first heard about it I thought this is not good at all.They say even with a vaccine you still have to wear a mask and distance because you don't know who's had the vaccine or not

My understanding is that the Pfizer vaccine is more artificial or synthetic than the Moderna one, so people who might not tolerate it (I have an allergy to latex rubber and wonder if I might be one) might be fine with the other(s). I do trust Pfizer, am on a medication they make for years now and have no complaints.

I have had a bit of a cough for the past couple of weeks but I refuse to assume that it is connected to COVID.

I suppose the odds are it's not. My brother had the test after getting a cough recently and it wasn't.

I'm worried about two different friends who are in wheelchairs, both have mentioned people without masks getting into the elevator of their buildings with them. I take the stairs wherever it's just a matter of a floor or two, because I can, but so many just don't think of that... the disabled truly have no choice in the matter! It's terrible to think of them being exposed because of some thoughtless person. One friend told the two maskless young men he didn't want them in the elevator but they ignored his request! Now it's been awhile since hearing from him.

There was reporting the other day the U.S. administration was following a heard immunity 'plan' from the start practically! There was a quote of "we want them infected" in some memo, you could probably google that phrase for more info. Shocking even given how goofy things have been. Herds and herd immunity is all dumb animals can manage, I would hope for something better. Sweden abandoned the idea before long as it was not a good strategy if a strategy it can be called at all.

this is a serious topic, everyone in my family has been ill, some family members - with very bad consequences. I doubt the pure biological origin of the virus, and i hope that soon we will be given a vaccine ...

Deadliest day of the virus in the U.S. yesterday, still people gathering in large numbers (cough) some of which I know made ITV, Sky and BBC news. Here there's been a scandal of politicians who would tell people not to travel and then went off to vacation in some warmer country! Land crossings at borders would stay closed month after month but so often not the airways. effectively one law for the privileged and wealthy and another for the rest of us poor shlubs. It does a lot to undermine following orders when those issuing them aren't practicing what they preach, makes me sad more than angry, this whole thing is sad in how most of us should've been more prepared, informed and able to make better decisions. I guess a few places like South Korea and New Zealand have done about as well as you could ask. This virus can be deadly and even when not it can cause lasting damage to health, and hopefully the vaccines are going where and to whom most needed. I am content to wait for awhile, after my two late seventies parents of course, and after direct health care and infrastructure jobs people. Not so thrilled seeing a politician or desk person getting them, but they say they'd be criticized if they didn't and that it might make some doubt the safety. That is a self-inflicted situation right there from conspiracy type websites.
