They really got behind that album in particular. So many of the songs bring back that era of roller disco and plastic furniture, and Jeff Lynne kept right on writing great songs into the '80s and beyond.

I also remember seeing them perform Daybreaker on tv and how we then got the Ole' Elo compilation album. Don't Bring Me Down, Do Ya, Turn To Stone, Can't Get It Out Of My Head, Showdown... so many memorable tracks.
I recall a DJ once saying this is ELO folks .... they’re gonna be bigger than the Beatles !

Not quite but Jeff Lynn was a marvellous songwriter !

I seem to recall watching a documentary about him a few years ago and he was a bit quirky / different

Strange Magic does the trick - so does Turn to Stone.

It was Jeff and Roy Wood of course who were the creators of ELO ...
they could have been the basis of a supergroup .... another Brummy supergroup .... to become
as big and legendary as the Moodies but somehow Jeff and Roy were too independent or something
to work together and Roy left the group to go on and form Wizard.

If you get depressed you can do worse than put on some ELO, but it kind of makes me melancholy for white shag carpets, orange and green wallpapers, and shiny banana yellow tabletop telephones.

Just saw a Wizzard video on Vintage TV channel, See My Baby Jive. I think one of the cellists was in the first ELO with him and after this video went back to Lynne & Co. maybe because Wizzard was more into horn sections?

    Excellent band.
One of my favourite songs of all artists is their "Telephone Line"
Guilty pleasure is " Diary of Horace Wimp"

I love ELO as well. They seemed to be ahead of their time when it came to how their songs sounded - almost a 1980s group a decade earlier if you know what I mean!

My favourites were Strange Magic, Turn to Stone, Sweet Talkin' Woman and Shine a Little Love.
