Yes the Out of the Blue LP was a DOUBLE GATEFOLD !! What a great album, only surpassed by A New World Record imho.

Jeff Lynne's solo stuffs a bit hit or miss though, didn't he make a come back recently ?

I didn't like them when I first heard them (10538 Overture etc.) but I got into them when Livin' Thing came out, then revisited all the oldies, which I then enjoyed!

There's a book about Lynne's career, just ordered uit the other day, supposed to be very good. I really enjoyed the 2001 ELO Zoom CD... maybe even his single best 'album' of all! George Harrison even guested on it before he left us.

    Electric Light Orchestra

One of the biggest sounds of the '70s! I remember when Out Of The Blue was released in 1977 and there were big displays of the UFO artwork associated with it. They really got behind that album in particular. So many of the songs bring back that era of roller disco and plastic furniture, and Jeff Lynne kept right on writing great songs into the '80s and beyond.

I also remember seeing them perform Daybreaker on tv and how we then got the Ole' Elo compilation album. Don't Bring Me Down, Do Ya, Turn To Stone, Can't Get It Out Of My Head, Showdown... so many memorable tracks.
Working...
