All the singles off the first Duran Duran album had otherwise unavailable songs on the flip side which were better than anything on the LP; Late Bar (Planet Earth), Khanada (Careless Memories) and Faster Than Light (Girls On Film).

If you bought the 3 track 12" of Careless Memories, they also had a pretty good stab Bowie's Fame. I'd agree with you about Faster Than Light being a better shot than Girls On Film. I reckon Careless Memories wasn't a bad shot though.

"Harold and Joe" by The Cure is easily much better than the A-side "Never Enough" (a decent song but comparatively average). I can not for the life of me figure why Harold and Joe wasn't the A-side, it is amazing and had more hit potential! Only if it had been the A-side we would never have got the awesome and hilarious promo video they made for "Never Enough" but it should at least have been a double A-side IMO.

Also "Facility Girls" by Soft Cell, the B-side of "Bedsitter". Soft Cell had many great b-sides, particularly "It's A Mug's Game", "Insecure Me" and "Disease and Desire".

I bought Nowhere Girl by B-Movie back in the 80s on 7" vinyl - there was a cockup at the pressing and the labels were stuck on the wrong sides. I spent 6 weeks adoring the B-side "Scare Some Life Into Me", thinking it was the A-side. When I finally listened to the flip I realised immediately what had occurred, since the title of the song was also the first line of each verse!

With you on that one. Lady Eleanor was the first record I bought and I just loved the B side. I'd like to add 'Don't Let Me Down' over 'Get Back' by the Beatles.

Jasper Carrott wouldn't have sold many copies of Funky Moped without the B-side Magic Roundabout.
