If you bought the 3 track 12" of Careless Memories, they also had a pretty good stab Bowie's Fame. I'd agree with you about Faster Than Light being a better shot than Girls On Film. I reckon Careless Memories wasn't a bad shot though.

"Harold and Joe" by The Cure is easily much better than the A-side "Never Enough" (a decent song but comparatively average). I can not for the life of me figure why Harold and Joe wasn't the A-side, it is amazing and had more hit potential! Only if it had been the A-side we would never have got the awesome and hilarious promo video they made for "Never Enough" but it should at least have been a double A-side IMO.

Also "Facility Girls" by Soft Cell, the B-side of "Bedsitter". Soft Cell had many great b-sides, particularly "It's A Mug's Game", "Insecure Me" and "Disease and Desire".

I bought Nowhere Girl by B-Movie back in the 80s on 7" vinyl - there was a cockup at the pressing and the labels were stuck on the wrong sides. I spent 6 weeks adoring the B-side "Scare Some Life Into Me", thinking it was the A-side. When I finally listened to the flip I realised immediately what had occurred, since the title of the song was also the first line of each verse!

With you on that one. Lady Eleanor was the first record I bought and I just loved the B side. I'd like to add 'Don't Let Me Down' over 'Get Back' by the Beatles.

Jasper Carrott wouldn't have sold many copies of Funky Moped without the B-side Magic Roundabout.

Bruce Springsteen's 1984 hit 'Dancing In The Dark' had a cracking B-side in 'Pink Cadillac'.

Waaay too good to be a b-side and much better than Natalie Cole's cover a few years later.

Oasis - just about all of them. "Shakermaker" in particular has got to be the weakest song on the single it came from. The fairly forgettable "Whatever" was upstaged by "Half the World Away" (the Royle Family theme tune), and the whole "Some Might Say" EP is brilliant.

It's almost like Noel was writing more great songs than he knew what do to with from 1994 - 1996. It's a shame that by the time Be Here Now came out he seemed to have run out of ideas.

Oddly I've been fond of Whatever for many years, but agree Half The World Away is also a great song.

Queen had a difficult time recording their Hot Space album & the quality of the A sides suffered, but the B sides oddly seemed to be stronger than normal so Las Palabras de Amor (The Words of Love) was outshone by Cool Cat on the flipside.

The first version of TV Cream had a great feature on their top 100 B-sides, I've still got it saved as a text file.
