The problem is that in his 1980 hit, the lyrics sound as if he is promoting The Samaritans or something: "I've been crying for such a long time" etc - I know that a Sunday morning programme that just played number one hits used to play it now and again. Compare that with the Bucks Fizz hit from a year later which gives the opposite feel of life.
Wasn't there a third song that he wrote but someone else sang? I'm thinking Niamh Kavanagh, perhaps? (I could easily look it up but trying to remember is more fun!)

"What's Another Year?" by Johnny Logan would be worth playing again.

She had two big hits (or something that rhymes with "hits" anyway...)

Probably too obscure, apart from when Eurovision is on, that is.

Maybe I just listen to the wrong radio stations...or the right ones, at the wrong time
They get played quite a bit on Absolute 80s, and I've heard the Desireless one a couple of times in recent months.

Stevie Wonder's version of Happy Birthday was in the 1981 Pick of the Pops chart yesterday - but was not played, making my point above valid. Would have been ironic if it had been played...

Stevie Wonder and Altered Images' versions of Happy Birthday - despite the fact that they are both totally different songs, they both have the same title, they both got to number two, and they were both hits in 1981!

I suppose that as it will be my own birthday this week, the occasion coming up had reminded me of both those songs - I wonder if any radio station will play them on the day itself?
