Most of Queen's Innuendo album have that feel to it, & they were lucky that Freddie lasted long enough to record it all & the original tracks on Made In Heaven.

Yeah, Don't Try So Hard is another (fairly obscure) favourite of mine for the emotional impact.

However thankfully they did inject it some humour and straightforward rock too. Freddie would never have wanted to go out in a miserable way. "Bittersweet" is the word that springs to mind with Innuendo.

Hard Road by Black Sabbath puts me in a good mood. Surprising since Sabbath are hardly known for their feel good vibe. But it's a fairly upbeat song about facing adversity.

Denim & Leather by Saxon makes me happy. RAAAAWWKKK!!!

Those Were The Days Of Our Lives by Queen is with, no contest, a song that almost always makes me cry. Especially when played along to the B&W video (The North American video has some animations that seem to show the song as about teenage love! Yuck) Seeing Freddie Mercury so sick and frail, yet still determined to carry on. And the last whispered "I still love you" and a farewell look at the camera. Truly haunting stuff. And now in my 40s the mood of the song I can relate too more than I did when I was in my 20s. I saw this video again on Youtube after many years and it was shocking to me how emotional it was.

I don't think any particular song has ever bought tears to my eyes, but The Host of Seraphim by Dead Can Dance has come close. Likewise Walking in the air from 'The Snowman'. That was the first time, as a youngster, I had ever felt real sense of emptyness, loss and the sheer futility of everything. And that everything is final. Dreams always come to an end.
