Seems Barbara brocolli wanted to see the series take a swerve, since she took the reigns from Cubby the series has lost a lot of the silliness

On a tangent, there is a sports presenter on the BBC called James Bond - that is his real name. I assume that his name pre-dates the films.

    Courtesy of wikipedia.....Radio career
In 1955, he received his first job as a radio presenter and, a year later, became the second actor to portray James Bond (after Barry Nelson in the 1954 TV special Casino Royale) in a radio production of Moonraker for the SABC's Springbok Radio.[2][3][5]

Yes he did. For some reason, I often think that regarding Bob Holness, I assumed that some people would have put the James Bond on the radio acting thing in the same category as the Baker Street saxophone one. I blame Stuart Maconie myself - of course the American version of Blockbusters was presented by a Bill Rafferty - that is what he was probably confusing it with. I don't think that it is cryptic. Anyway, back on topic...

I wonder if we will ever see a Jane Bond in the future? There will be a female Doctor Who so...

He was also Peter Guillam in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, but was unavailable for Smiley's People.
