in all fairness i never watched much of the last decade of it.
although from what i remember kathy staff stayed in it till it finished or until she died whichever came first.

but its true sometimes a show goes on to long.
and i was very shocked who far down the viewing figures went in the 5 to ten yrs.

Bringing in Russ Abbott (who in my opinion was a established cretiable 80s comedian) and him turning to to acting was just as bad too!

LOTW really jumped the shark when Frank Thornton potrayed Truly as too Clegg like instead of doing a pompous act.

You're thinking of Just Good Friends & No Place Like Home.

hate last of the summer wine, i still wake up in a cold sweat thinking of those sundays as a kid when my dad had the BBC 2 sunday league cricket on all afternoon followed by antiques road show and then LOTSW (its left me mentally scard)

other sit coms i have detested (hate them so much i cant even think of their titles) that one with paul nicholas in it where he jilted some girl at the alter (or something or the other) and then meets her again years after and then spends the next million episodes pining after her like a dog wanting a bone
there was another one about next door neighbours seem to recall as the titles came up it had like an embroidered house graphic there was a bloke in it who allways seemed to be in the garden shed it was one of those typical BBC family comedies that are dire and is as funny as IBS (and gets an airing as afternoon tv years later)

and of course the latest detest-a-fon is my family how does that get renewed constantly what a steaming pile of @*@@*+*****

I know someone will go against me for this, as they use it as a username, but On the Buses is a crime against man. Seriously the worst thing ever. Ever. Ever ever? EVER! I find it sort of embarrassing for all the people involved. It's truly painful to watch, I'd rather tolerate 30 minutes of static than 'enjoy' an episode of On the Buses.
yeah i agree i could never finf on the buses that funny.

home to roost i like, game on never heard of it sly.

In patches I like and don't like The Green Green Grass Of Home. I am glad it was kept as it was and had no OFAH Chracters par Boycie, Marlenne and The Driscol Brothers (who I doubt where the same actors possibly), but I do (sort of) like it on it's own merit ..... then again if it had had Del By, Rodney, Denzil, Trigger in it'd of been a right scream!!

Talking of Rodney/Nick Lyndurst was'nt in "Hello Girls" with Lettuia Dean or was that Victor McGuire (Jack from Bread) where they time travlled - either way it was appauling as a comedy and totaly divide of realism! Sadly too I never got to like 'Allo 'Allo, and I felt it never deserved the run it had!Did anyone else ever like Luve - another Carla Laine creation ...... it was on TV about 2 years after Bread ended - which'd be 1993 I think.

    This is blamsphony in TV terms is'nt! John Cleese is one of the best berst ever actors these shores has ever seen i' say. Even eclipsing David Jason and that is some task i'd say. My nominations would be;

My Family - how anybody can abide that dribel is past me and more so how it has run for well over a decade!

As Time Goes By - yeah though ... as time has gone by i've got more into it - but I can not and never have got what the attraction is regards Dame Judy Dench as an actress (and the guy who played Lionel) was even more wooden than the National Forest 95/97% of the time I thought!!

If I think of any more i'll add as and when!

PS, My Family is naff, its NOT funny.

2.4 Children - rubbish. We used to be glad Corrie was on at the same time so switched over sharpish I think....lol.

Father Ted was brilliant. But having seen then over and over again I simply don't watch them now on repeated channels like More 4 etc....I also liked The IT Crowd made by the same writing team....
