It's just occurred to me that Luxembourg's entry this year could be an indirect homage to Sandie Shaw's 1967 hit - I know that Luxembourg had a song in the contest with a similar French-language title during the years when they were taking part and winning it - late 1960s and early 1970s-ish.

From what I have seen on YouTube, Austria seems to be tipped to win the contest this year - Luxembourg, Ireland and Austria are all in the second semi-final, and so if Luxembourg or Ireland doesn't get through, then I might go with Austria as well.Last edited by George 1978; 09-04-2025, 01:47.I've everything I need to keep me satisfied

Well I have not read such info but I don't put much by the Euros these days as most songs sound similar too, so they chance of a Winner is removed that way I feelOriginally posted by George 1978 View PostFrom what I have seen on YouTube, Austria seems to be tipped to win the contest this year - Luxembourg, Ireland and Austria are all in the second semi-final, and so if Luxembourg or Ireland doesn't get through, then I might go with Austria as well.
As well too if you think about it, it's always an outsider like putting Barnet or Eastleigh from the National League in the Premier and them somehow winning it!

I will be so upset if Luxembourg doesn't get into the final this year - Laura is someone who I wouldn't mind falling in love with...
I also hope that there will be an English translation of that song as well.I've everything I need to keep me satisfied

Watched the whole lot - all 250 minutes of it! I was glad that Luxembourg made it to the final and was in second position in the show which meant not long to wait. I believe that we could have got over 100 points on jury points alone. No televotes? Come on! We did have a reasonable amount of points - had it had been pre-2000. I was optimistic that we would be in three-digit-land. It was like waiting for a bus - nothing from the first few countries and a flurry of a few points from three or four countries and then it went low-key on us. Italy gave us 12 points, and the "spokesperson" was a mouse? I won't use the phrase "take the mickey..."
Interesting that viewers could even televote during the songs - I assume that this is the first year it has happened? It does take the load off so many people phoning in their choice. Yes, I voted for Luxembourg when Laura Thorn was actually on screen, and I believe that a lot of viewers literally did that when the act of their choice was singing on screen. Great to get it over and done with so early on. I hope it is like this next year as well. Thanks to Remember Monday - a great performance. Strong on screen and strong in talent. I hope that this will give promotion to their group and that we will see and hear more of them post-Eurovision. I thought of Colin Berry when Sophie Ellis-Bextor did the honours - I would have liked Norton to have mentioned Berry in his commentary.
Congratulations to Austria and JJ - I knew that they were going to win.

Snap same here George and at Half Time in the votes before the 2nd part it was looking so well for usOriginally posted by George 1978 View PostWatched the whole lot - all 250 minutes of it!
I still think now that the Euro is influenced by Politics mind and in a way it is not European now but I am pleased Australia got invited and are now in it as they are so "European"
Even though when Ukraine won it a few years back - I am certain it is cos of the Russian War against them that people helped them to win, but the UK did finish 2nd that year and more than probably we would have won if there was no invasion by Russia, so I still feel and hope we can one year soon beat that 2nd place!

Not so sure about that. Yuval Raphael sang a very decent song, but also picked up a huge public sympathy vote for her remarkable story of being wounded during the music festival massacre and having to play dead to survive.Originally posted by Flash Gordon View PostI dont think Israel will be very popular in the next one.
Whilst the BBC and other channels are very anti-Israel, I think the public as a whole has a more nuanced view.

Eurovision is known for its poilitical voting based on recent world events, so it will be an interesting guage of opinion.Last edited by Flash Gordon; 20-07-2025, 20:11.

Someone called "Look Mum No Computer" will represent the United Kingdom in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, I thought that he is probably some kind of influencer or something. I could never imagine the BBC pulling out because of Israel competing, and also as Ireland isn't participating because of that, our entry is the closest they have geographically. LMNC (no doubt initials which will be trending online and elsewhere over the next three months or so) is the "stage name" of Sam Battle, and he does have a battle to get his head above water on the night itself.
I won't say "eat your heart out, Brotherhood of Man" but LMNC will probably get around 15 points combined from the juries and Televotes. We won't get any from Ireland for obvious reasons - so anyone wants to spare any points, please feel welcome. I wouldn't be surprised that by Midnight on Sunday 17th May, it came to "Look Mum No Points", "LMNP" or even "Look Mum, Nul Points"
Here is the LMNC website - https://www.lookmumnocomputer.com/
Here is the LMNC Wikipedia page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Look_Mum_No_Computer
And if one types "LMNC" on Google, one gets most of these on the first page.
In other news, Estonia's Vanilla Ninja look very much like Girls Aloud - let's see if they get beyond the semi-final.I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
